  • Endocrine
  • Produced by gonads and adrenal gland in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum
  • Molecular structure similar to cholesterol
    • They are thus nonpolar and can enter the cell
  • Bind to intracellular or intranuclear receptors and form a hormone-receptor complex
    • Translocation: actin
  • Once inside the nucleus, they bind to DNA and cause gene regulation

    • Aldosterone
